Sanctuary Zebra Plains (South Luangwa National Park | Zambia)
A walking safari with Sanctuary offers the ultimate adventure – without forsaking incredible guiding, personalized service or luxurious accommodation. Our first walking safari camp, Sanctuary Zebra Plains is located in a particularly beautiful and untouched area of the South Luangwa in Zambia, perched on a sand bank at the confluence of the Luangwa and Chibembe Rivers. Now you can explore the pristine wilderness of this fabled park – the home of the walking safari - with one of Africa’s most experienced expert guides, while enjoying luxurious tented accommodation and fine dining.
Accommodation
Sanctuary Zebra Plains has just four traditional tents – two doubles and two twins – accommodating a maximum of six guests. All tents have real beds, campaign furniture, mosquito nets, en-suite facilities and flush toilets. Water for al fresco showers is mixed to your preferred temperature by a tent attendant. There is also a main mess tent with dining area, library and bar.
Activities
The diversity of habitats surrounding Sanctuary Zebra Plains provide for some of the most spectacular walking in Africa over terrain that is ideal for exploring with plenty of shade and long sweeping views. The park is home to the largest population of hippos in the world and over 400 species of birds, as well as zebra, elephant, antelope, buffalo, puku and various endemic species, not to mention lion, leopard and wild dog.
Garth Hovell, a highly respected guide with almost twenty years of experience, leads walks twice a day. For Garth there is simply no match for the thrill of a walking safari: “On foot your senses are heightened by all that surrounds you to give you the ultimate safari high.” Garth’s true sense of adventure will ensure every guest has the holiday of a lifetime.
